I just want to let the world and Cranes know that there is a small but faithful number of
Cranes fans in Costa Rica, Central America. I just got the lyrics book and I am impressed
by the beauty of it and very happy to read such wonderful lyrics. Let's hope the new
album sees the light in 1999 as planned.

--- well --- it was about four years ago when i heard the first cranes song --- my boyfriend who lived about 400 km far away sent me a cassette with music and spoken words for birthday --- it was "are you gone?" and i loved it --- now my boyfriend's gone - but the cranes stayed --- and i really love'em!!!

I was so happy to receive your December newsletter and update on the band. I've been
listening and adoring your work since the ep's released in 1990 when I was studying in
London for a term. Then came the incomparable Wings of Joy release that didn't leave my
walkman for months or even years. I went to see the Cure when Cranes were meant to open
for them in Philadelphia, but then you couldn't get in the country in time for that show.
I was so disappointed. But I did finally get to see you in DC at the 930 Club and again later
at the TLA here in 1997. Please include me on your e-mailing list with updates especially
regarding touring and new releases. I hope that you will soon have available more copies
of La Tragedie... It's the only full-length recording that I don't have.
Please keep singing to us all.

well, i suppose it all started one day when i was 12 or so. i was trapped in a world that no one else could even come close to imagining--it was a cloudless world. angelic voices sang their way to my soul--my heart began to fly and my mind began to soar. i closed my eyes to the darkness in my room--the darkness that we live in day after day--and dreamt of wonders; fantasies in other lands. life let go of me, and i let go of it . . .
. . . then my "brother" took the tape out of the tape-deck.
. . . i had fallen in love.

In response to the post by the guy from Guadalajara... "I think you should stick to your more monotonous, simple rythms.." and all other people who complain about a band's sound, instead, go an try to make the music yourself, whatever it is that you want to hear. and hey, if it's geared for MTV and radio spoon-feeding, then good for you.
... I think it's ridiculous for any one, fan or not, to tell a band how they should or shouldn't sound, even if it is just a suggestion.

I'm so glad that less people will end up trying to enjoy a cranes gig now that the book's here whilst
someone standing next to them is singing along in a wahwahlaladuhduh-kind of way :). Of course wahwahlaladuhduh is cool but
not if someone's trying to convince you that it's in the original lyrics.

When I heard the Cranes, it was discovering the band I knew HAD to exist. And since hearing the beautiful synergism of sounds, no other music has ever held a candle to the Cranes in my mind! For over six years, the music has bewitched me. Seeing them in 1997 in Dallas was a wonderful experience! Blessings to the musicians who give me hope when I am surrounded by the atrocious American radio mess!

Here's me, representing all of Guadalajara's Cranes fans. I think you should stick to your more monotonous, simple rythms. Strangely, some of your most amusing songs have such. And dont forget your I-really-want-to-die pianos and your loud I-really-need-to-kill-someone guitars! They have such a feeling... Anyway, it was nice to hear you branch out a little in Population Four.
Oh! By the way, I also listened to Cranes for the first time at The Cure's Wish Tour, in Monterrey, Mexico.
When I found this website, it made me happy to see there are at least some music connoisseurs in this world, and that one is not alone. Greetings to you all.

I first got into the Cranes when I met the Guitarist from the Swedish death metal Entombed (UFFE CEDERLUND)and he gave me a tape he recorded at home.
The new album is fabulous,it makes me happy and sad at the same time!

WoW! Just got my lyric book. All these years, my dream comes true. But it will be hard to get rid my memory of the lyrics as I percieved them. Actually, I'll probably just keep them. Isn't that the real beauty of music? How you interupt, hear, feel a song?

I'm not the sort who usually writes in guestbooks (does anyone read them? I just did) but this is the Cranes, and I just have to.
Alison, you are loveliness itself. And the best thing about it is that others don't always understand. Thanks for singing to me all these years!

I got into cranes from hearing a track on the compilation album 'Nocturnal' entitled 'Jewel'and I loved it so I tried more of their songs and loved them too. My favourite tracks are 'Paris and Rome' and 'Beautiful Friend' as they make me think of a special someone! The lyrics ring very true to me for that.
Anyway, another thing...Hope Blister did a cover version of 'Sweet Unknown' on their album'Smile's OK' on the 4AD label.Has anyone apart from me heard it? I't not as good as the original!
Love and Peace,Cranes fans!

Allison's voice is simply perfection. The music is simply perfection. What can I say? Lovely....... I don't go to many shows, but if Cranes played a show anywhere nearby, I'd drop everything for the chance to see them live. Amazing!

I "got into" Cranes when i was having deep periods of depression and was
on the market for new music. i caught them on 120 Min on mtv and even
happened to tape it. i cannot thank fate enough. every new album since
then has been a treat and i recently (in the last 6 months) acquired
self-non-self. i was 15 and am now 23, the single mother of a 2- year old
girl. the depression took me through a lot of hell, cranes being there the
whole time. i cannot thank you all enough, i wonder at why i have not
responded sooner. you landed in Philadelphia almost a year ago-a gift i'll
never forget.i cannot wait to hopefully see your book of lyrics. best wishes!
Hope you are all in good health.

A few years ago me and a couple of friends were exploring music as we bumped into the sampler-cd everything is beautiful... the second track on that cd certainly was... This song was called jewel and from that moment on I was always looking for conserts of the cranes. There were a couple of gigs in paradiso and in de effenaar in eindhoven which I really enjoyed. I am looking forward to see and hear more material of the band.
cheers.... hope to see you soon

I found out about the Cranes through friends who knew of them. They were Cure fans (I am also-1st place sing-alike at the Cure Convention!) who found them at the Wish tour. I think that the Cranes are pretty cool and have my support. "You guys are great!"
Check out my site! You can see my photos and hear my band, the Jendays... hey!!! That's a bird too!!! Jenday Conure. Give me a break! I work with animals.

First saw the Cranes with the Cure on the Wish tour in 92, then I bought
Wings of Joy (a masterpiece!). I've bought everything since and I'm an avid
fan and supporter. I like the new album but I am partial to your more
"industrial" sound. Please tour again soon!!!
