Here's two I just came across both featuring a singer named Julie Shields:
Shallow:

The Capsules:

I prefer CD quality, and a few Amazon sellers have the Shallow CDs (which I just ordered yesterday, so I'm awaiting their arrival). The Capsules CDs arrived today and I'm listening to Long Distance Dedication now. Really mellow and pretty tunes.

And one other I haven't mentioned before:
Vedera:

Their first album is more introspective, and the highlight for me is It's All Happening on Broadway. I've never heard such a big little voice before with that song.

Their latest album Stages has some Sundays influences going on (Static & Silence era). If you like, get the version from iTunes which has the bonus track Move Forward, which happens to be one of their best tracks ever (the Sundays live again in the voice of Kristen May). They are most excellent live, and I've had the good fortune of seeing them twice.

I wonder how many other bands with vocalists that remind me of Alison I have yet to discover... if anyone knows any others, please post.

Shallow sound quite good... Julie Shields really sounds like a more accessible version of Alison, yet the music seems to be put together from various artist. I had to laugh about the bass line in the song "Missile Command"... do U2 know this song exists? Laughing
